BREAKING NEWS: Morales announces bid for Dingus' vacated council seat

Published: Monday, April 28, 2008 1:37 PM CDT
Midland businessman Jerry Morales announced Monday his candidacy for the Midland City Council at-large position in the upcoming election, a seat left vacant earlier this month by Bill Dingus.

Morales, who recently rotated off the Midland Development Corp. board after six years, is an independent restaurant owner and lifelong Midland resident. He has served as president of the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as on the board of the Midland Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the State Executive Board of the Texas Restaurant Association. He has served on numerous boards and advisory committees in Midland.

"I'm looking forward to giving my time and experience to the citizens of Midland," Morales said.

Morales is owner of Gerardo's Casita, which has been in business since 1996.

Dingus vacated the council seat to run against Tom Craddick (Rep.) in the Texas Legislature District 82 race.

" Mr. Morales,

Good luck in your run for city council. Off topic, but why did you close your restaurant in Odessa? I sure do miss eating there. It was my family's favorite. "
