Now catering to Midland's youngest residents is LA BEBE, located in Oak Ridge Square Shopping Center at 2200 W. Wadley, behind the Pizza Hut.
Owner Susan Golson, who owned Calico Barn several years ago, said La Bebe carries fine apparel for children from infant through Size 4 Toddler.
"We have everything for nurseries," she added, from furniture and bedding to chandeliers, glider chairs to strollers to "pack and play" carriers.
She also stocks a line of toys, including rocking horses and rocking poodles and old-fashioned metal pedal cars.
"We're very customer-oriented," Golson said. "We can order anything the customer wants."
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. More information is available at 687-2800.
Bringing back the long-closed Denny's at 2308 W. Loop 250, next to Outback Steakhouse and Talbots is OCCASION FINE JEWELERS, which opened recently in its new home.
"It's larger, 1,000 square feet more than we had," said owner Cathy Fleck, explaining that the move from her store in Colonnade Shopping Center next to Jason's Deli was made both for the larger quarters and for the greatly-improved parking. Readying the new location took awhile because, she said, "it looks nothing like it did. The only thing left was the outside shell. We completely gutted it."
Now, she said, "The store layout is easier. It has a comfortable feel and it's easy to maneuver through the showcases. It's consumer-friendly."
The larger quarters has allowed the addition of some new lines, Fleck said, "some aren't here yet and others are trickling in. We also took lines we've been successful with and gave them more of a presence. It's the same lines, we've just added some extra." Those lines include brand designers like Hearts on Fire, Tacori, Mark Schneider and jewelry from, among others, Galatea, SOHO, Donna Chamber and The Pandora Collection.
A grand opening celebration is planned for Friday and Saturday, June 27-28. The store will have extended hours, until 8 p.m., on Thursday, June 26 when Fleck will host a party for invited guests.
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
