Sanchez chosen for
U-15 soccer camp
Midland's Derek Sanchez has been invited to participate in the 15 and under Boys Soccer National Domestic Training Camp in Chicago on July 21-27. Sanchez is one of only 34 players in his age group chosen to play nationally and one of only four from Texas.
Sanchez, who also plays for the Dallas Texan Club U-16 Academy Team, will be playing against international competition in the camp.
Tourney starts

The West Texas United soccer teams each tied their opponents in the opening games of the U.S. Youth Soccer National Directors Cup in Kirkwood, Del., on Friday.
The 94 boys squad ended its match against the E. Penn. Lighthouse Hurricanes knotted at 1. The 92 girls team tied the N. Carolina Coastal United 2-2.
Both teams play two games today starting at 8 a.m. Both teams square off in their second matches at 3 p.m.

Here are Friday's results from the Midland Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament held at Ranchland Hills Golf Club. The top three teams in each flight are listed.
First Flight: 1. Danny Sartin-Tommy Young-Craig Feuer-Mr. Feuer 56; 2. Clay Cash-Dave Wedel-Allen Pruitt-Chris Pruitt 56; 3. Mike Nelson-Steve Aikman-Mike Baxter-Jacob Loez 57.
Second Flight: 1. Danny Mitchell-James McDougal-Dustin Beauchamp-Aaron Shaffer 56; 2. Cary Love-Billy Clements-Tom Revilla-Dempsey Taylor 56; 3. Kenny Pulliam-Tony Reeves-Stacy Copeland-Alan Johnson 59.
