Midlanders host ceremony for deploying soldiers

Midlanders will hold a ceremony Saturday for about 130 local Texas Army National Guard soldiers who are leaving for a yearlong deployment in Iraq.
A farewell ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. at American Legion Post 19, 501 Airpark Road, and will be followed by a reception.
Speakers include Col. Burney, Mickey Wright from the office of Congressman Mike Conaway, Johnie Qualls from Soldiers of Today and Yesterday and Father James Plagens from St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
