The American Red Cross of Southwest Texas is hosting its first dinner fundraiser on Sept. 13 from 6:30 - 10 p.m. at Alldredge Gardens. The title is Red Wine & Blues. The tickets are $100 a couple, which includes dinner, wine, and entertainment by the local blues & jazz band Bent. We will have a live and silent auction as well.

This should be a wonderful occasion for all and a great opportunity to help fund the Red Cross that has helped our community. In just six months in 2008 our local Red Cross chapter has assisted 494 people in crisis and served 1830 people in need. This fundraiser will benefit disaster relief for 26 counties within the Chapter’s jurisdiction.

The Southwest Texas Division of the American Red Cross serves the Midland and Odessa area with several rural counties as well.  We are a non-profit organization employing local citizens, serving local needs.  Chartered by Congress in 1905, the purposes of the American Red Cross are to provide national and international disaster relief and mitigation, and to serve as a medium of communication between members of the American armed forces and their families. Our local division provides emergency response services to local victims of fire and other disasters along with facilitating emergency communications for any military family.  As our funding permits, we are also able to send representatives to national disaster areas such as September 11, 2001 and the Hurricane Katrina emergency efforts.
