Postponed from Thursday while President Bush conferred with Congress about national financial rescue legislation, the president’s first visit to his hometown in almost eight years has been rescheduled and will be held on Saturday at the home of Congressman Mike Conaway and his wife Suzanne.
White House spokesman Blair Jones confirmed shortly before noon today that the president and First Lady Laura Bush will attend the Congressional Trust 2008 Reception Saturday at the Conaways’ home in behalf of the Republican National Committee and National Republican Congressional Committee.
Supporters of targeted House of Representatives’ races around the country will meet the Bushes in a private reception inside the home and then go into the backyard for barbecue and meetings with hundreds of old friends from around the Permian Basin and West Texas.
The event will be hosted by former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans and his wife Susan. Security will be very tight.
Conaway said recently that the fundraiser to back NRCC efforts in the Nov. 4 elections took flight when he accompanied Bush on Air Force One from Waco to Washington in early August.
The first lady has often returned to Midland to see her mother, Jenna Welch, but the president has not been here since stopping on the way to his first inauguration on Jan. 17, 2001, to address thousands of people in Centennial Plaza downtown, tip his cowboy hat and say, “This is my home!”

" Great Baboosky,
I am sure you are not illiterate. If you read at the top of the article under the main title you will see in bold print where it says
Fundraiser to be held at northwest Midland home of Congressman Mike Conaway and his wife Suzanne. Perhaps this is to give Midlanders a tax break from the bail out? Funny I know and not even a chance for that but then again I guess the President is not concerned about the bailout cause he has money and once he gets out of office he won't have to worry abou thte mess he got this country into. "

" Sally (ATTENTION: PRES . GEORGE W. BUSH)
Experimental & Pursuant to the 5th amendment PROHIBITING GOVERNMENT FROM USING PRIVATE PROPERTY WITHOUT JUST COMPENSATION - such as Pres. Bush' use of eurasian experimental to give people $300 average in 2001or 2002 and average $300, $600, $1,200 in 2008 and even the tax cuts to the rich in the years in between.
YES!!! PRES BUSH DID A GREAT JOB USING EURASIAN EXPERIMENTAL TO COLLECT TAXES BY GIVING GOVERNMENT MONEY GIVEAWAYS TO PEOPLE. YOU AND I HAVE NEVER EVER SEEN EVEN COMMUNIST RULERS GIVE $300 DOLLARS TO PRACTICALLY EACH AND EVERYONE IN A NATION OF SOME 300 MILLION PEOPLE. BUT PRES. BUSH, RULER OF AMERICA AND EVEN THE WORLD DID IT. THAT WAS NOT COMMUNISM BECAUSE EVEN THE COMMUNIST NEVER DID IT. THAT WAS EURASIAN EXPERIMENTAL!!! SEE THE 5th AMENDMENT OF THE US CONSTITUTION!!!! ALSO SEE ARTICLE 1 SECTION 8 CLAUSE 8 OF THE US CONSTITUTIOIN WHICH LED TO CONGRESS MAKING THE PATENT L:AW AND THE US COPYRIGHT LAW.
PRES. BUSH, YOU MIGHT BE IN MIDLAND JUST 90 short minutes., BUT NOW AND LATER, YOU CAN ALWAYS BE IN MIDLAND EVEN IF YOU ARE SOMEWHERE ELSE IF YOU BLOG AND POST AT THESE TWO MIDLAND REPORTER TELEGRAM WEBSITES:

Thank you very much Pres. Bush the Younger for using this eurasian experimental to give government money to everybody. If you would continue with the 5th amendment and justly compensate eurasian as mandated by the 5th amendment, eurasian would be able to do more and more inventions -- not to get rich - but to serve more and more poor people not only in the United States but all over the world. " Sally,
You are delusional if you think he's done a great job...
The economy is shot, we are in a war that he had no business starting, because he had no proof of what he accused Iraq of doing and he's getting thousands of men killed.
I think this is the worst president that we have had in my life time. "

" Just never ceases to amaze me these same individuals that love to write about knocking the President when things aren't always "peachy-keen" but are right there beating their chests, saying how they back the President 100% when things are good. What President HASN'T had issues during his term? Oh yeah, and speaking of fundraisers, lets not forget the millions of dollars the Chinese Government wanted to pump into (and did!) the Democratic Party during the last Democratic President's term in order to seek favors. How easily you forget! Or how Mark Rich's wife donated millions to the Demorcratic party during Clinton's term (or do you consider this another fundraiser?). Yes, the same Marc Rich that was wanted for multiple criminal charges and liived the Swiss life. The same Marc Rich that Clinton PARDONED at the end of his "reign." Kind of smells like someone bought the President - .... "
